WHAT IS CONNECTICUT GREEN BANK?
Helping Connecticut
invest in better homes.
Connecticut Green Bank is a quasi-public organization created by the state in 2011 to make clean energy investment more accessible. It brings public and private funding together to support energy efficiency, clean energy, and resilience projects.
For homeowners, one of its tools is the Smart-E Loan: financing offered through participating local lenders for qualifying improvements.
How can it help a homeowner?
Financing can spread an eligible project’s cost across monthly payments instead of requiring the full cost upfront. An appropriate upgrade can improve comfort and energy performance; actual savings depend on your home, equipment, energy prices, and use.
Smart-E offers fixed-rate, unsecured financing and a no-money-down option for qualified borrowers. It is a loan that must be repaid, rather than a grant or a rebate.
WHY WORK WITH IDEAL?
A Smart-E approved HVAC contractor from planning to installation.
As a Connecticut Green Bank Smart-E approved contractor, Ideal Mechanical Services can discuss the right heating or cooling system for your home, provide a proposal for a qualifying installation, and submit required equipment and project information for the Green Bank's technical review once you have lender pre-approval. The Green Bank reviews project eligibility; your participating lender independently determines loan approval and terms.

2. Apply directly with a participating Smart-E lender for pre-approval.
3. Tell our team which lender pre-approved you. We submit the project to Connecticut Green Bank for technical review.
4. After project approval and loan closing, we complete the installation and required completion paperwork.

A few helpful answers.
Who may qualify?
Smart-E is generally for owner-occupied Connecticut residential properties with one to four units. Condominiums must be individually metered. Credit and other underwriting criteria apply; the participating lender makes the lending decision.
Are all installations eligible?
No. The proposed work and equipment must meet program requirements. Some improvements require a Home Energy Assessment. Confirm eligibility before committing to financing or installation.
What rates and repayment terms are available?
Check the official Smart-E page and your selected lender for current terms. Special heat-pump offers may have separate requirements, funding limits, or deadlines.
Can I also receive rebates?
Smart-E financing does not by itself prevent you from using other eligible incentives. Rebates have separate rules and approval processes; confirm them with the program administrator or utility. A loan approval does not guarantee a rebate.
Is Smart-E the same as Wisetack?
No. Smart-E is a Connecticut Green Bank program offered through participating local lenders. Wisetack is a separate financing option offered through its lending partners. Ideal Mechanical Services offers access to both options. Each has its own eligibility requirements and loan terms.
